Additional studies return and show the following:
  • Histopathologic evaluation determines that the osteolytic bone lesion is due to an osteoblastic osteosarcoma.
  • Thoracic radiographs do not show evidence of metastases, but the possibility of early micro-metastasis cannot be ruled out.

The patient is referred to a veterinary oncologist for consultation regarding treatment options and prognosis.
